An 18-year-old Orange man has been arrested on charges of poessessing and trafficking 57 vials of crack, the potent cocaine derivative, near a school.
Orange Police Director Charles Cobbertt identified the suspect as Dushonte McCoy of North Essex Avenue.
McCoy was arrested at McChestney and Langdon streets Tuesday night by members of the police vice squad, Cobbertt said.
After receiving complaints about drug trafficking at that location, the police placed an undercover unit there, he explained.
The result of that undercover surveillance, Cobbertt noted, was McCoy's arrest and his being charged with possession of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of $1140, possession of illegal drugs with the intent to distribute and selling illegal drugs within 1,000 feet of a school.
He said McCoy was placed in the Orange jail, pending a municipal court arraignment today.
