A 57-year-old Orange man hurt in a two-car accident Sunday later died from his injuries, police said yesterday.
The accident happened on High Street near Park Avenue.
Police Director Charles Cobbertt identified the victim as Norm Bland and the driver of the other vehicle as Marcos W. Luddenal of North Harrison Street, East Orange.
Neither Bland nor Luddenal had driver's licenses when their cars collided about 4:30 p.m., the director noted.
Bland had "stopped on High Street, near Park Avenue, while wiating for the red light to change, when his 1977 Ford was rear-ended by a 1981 Dodge driven by Luddenal," Cobbertt said.
Bland was taken to Universtiy Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m., he added.
Besides driving without a license, Cobbertt said, the victim's vehicle was unregistered.
Prior to his death, police issued Bland two tickets for the offenses. Cobbertt said authorities gave Luddenal a summons charging driving without a license. Both vehicles were impounded.
